End of Antichrist

In the Book of Revelation, the final book of the Bible, John has a revelation communicated to him by an angel. These visions told of the future history of the world. Even though it may seem that evil is pervasive and wicked men all powerful, their ultimate doom is certain. The Messiah will come in glory to judge and rule.(1)

At the height of his power, when he seems invincible, he will meet his end. Daniel 7:26 says :his dominion will be taken away, annihilated and destroyed forever"; Daniel 11:45 notes that" he will come to his end, and no one will help him." Revelation 17:11 declares that Antichrist "goes to destruction," and that destruction is graphically described below in Revelation 19:20.(2)

First the Messiah returns for His second Coming
(No one else is capable of defeating the Antichrist):

The Coming of Christ:

And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS." Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in midheaven, Come, assemble for the great supper of God, so that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and of those who sit on them and the flesh of all men, both free men and slaves, and small and great. And I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies assembled to make war against Him who sat on the horse and against His army.(Revelation 19:11-19)

Then the Antichrist (beast) will receive his preordained doom:

Doom of the Beast and False Prophet

And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh. (Revelation 19:20-21)

His final series of battles and his destruction are also portrayed in Daniel 11:40-45.

At the end time the king of the South will collide with him, and the king of the North will storm against him with chariots, with horsemen and with many ships; and he will enter countries, overflow them and pass through. He will also enter the Beautiful Land, and many countries will fall; but these will be rescued out of his hand: Edom, Moab and the foremost of the sons of Ammon. Then he will stretch out his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt will not escape. But he will gain control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver and over all the precious things of Egypt; and Libyans and Ethiopians will follow at his heels. But rumors from the East and from the North will disturb him, and he will go forth with great wrath to destroy and annihilate many. He will pitch the tents of his royal pavilion between the seas and the beautiful Holy Mountain; yet he will come to his end, and no one will help him (Daniel 11:40-45).

Miscellaneous:

While the world may be unable to kill or stop the Antichrist the Lord (Jesus) will be able to. The most hellish and powerful ruler in human history will be effortlessly crushed; the Lord will slay him with the mere breath of His mouth.(2)

Sometimes slay can mean "to overthrow." (Niv.) Revelation 19:20 supports the idea that the Antichrist's body goes right from his office of power to the Lake of Fire without ever being given the luxury of dying first.

The concept that the Lord will destroy His enemies with the breath of His mouth is also found in Isa. 11:4 and Hos. 6:5.

To bring to an end literally means "to render inoperative" or "to abolish."(2)
