We know that the Tribulation Period will begin with the signing of a Peace Treaty between Israel and many other nations. We also know that the treaty will be broken when the Abomination Of Desolation occurs, ushering the time of intensified Great Tribulation.
There is scriptural support both in the Old Testament and New Testament for this end-time event to take place.
Consider these Bible passages from The book of Daniel in the Old Testament.
Daniel 9:27 "And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate." Putting a stop to Israel's ability to continue with their reinstated sacrificial system is viewed by most Bible scholars as a breaking of the peace treaty that allowed the sacrificial system to either be reinstated or continue in peace.
Daniel 12:11 And from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.
This is reconfirmed with John's writings from the Book of Revelation.
Revelation 11:1 And there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, "Rise and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and those who worship in it. And leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months.
(Please note that a prophetic month is 30 days).
While we don't know many of the details of this coming peace treaty we do know one thing. Peace is much more than the absence of war. Without the Messiah to lead this world as the King of all King, the best we can ever hope for is a temporary solution that allows for each country to hold off their desires to kill one another. After Jesus comes to earth at the end of this Tribulation Period, there will follow a time of 1000 years that include peace from the Prince of Peace and leadership from the Lord of Lords.
There are already peace treaties in place that could be modified to become more comprehensive to include many Arab countries surrounding Israel. In other words there may not be a need for a "new" treaty if a pre-existing treaty can be amended.
